SWACCHA RAHENGE toh SWASTH RAHENGE is a complete communication campaign for school children and the community, with focus on sanitation, handwashing, personal hygiene and drinking water management. The idea has been to engage the community and the school children and mobilize the communities for total sanitation. The campaign has addressed all the issues in sync with the guidelines of Swachh Bharat Mission.
Implemented in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar in India.
Creating a mascot that emerged from the community, a team of Daadi (grandmother) and NanhiToli (a team of young kids) was made the creative vehicle for the campaign. With them as communication mascots, the campaign has connected with the children and the community alike with a sense of empathy. This campaign has now taken a life of its own with children taking complete ownership, devising school plays, puppet shows using Daadiand NanhiToli, creatively spreading awareness on complete sanitation in their own communities.
