IT’S MY LIFE, a picture book series was created for school children to create awareness on HIV/AIDS.Through stories the project aimed at sensitizing children on HIV, treatment, services and care.
Based on her interactions with all stakeholders in the HIV Program, this series of 5 books were written by renowned author – Mariam Karim Ahlawat and illustrated by the renowned illustrator – Proiti Roy.
Besides stories, the books also have interactive tasks, quizzes, creative activities to create awareness and mobilize young readers for HIV care and support.
Implemented across many states of India.
Designing a series of picture books that highlight sensitization, care and support
was a rewarding project in every way. Using the metrics of design to bring out the nuances of fiction on a subject as sensitive as HIV care was challenging as well as a strong learning exercise of design as a tool for compassion and care.
